  30. How To Install Winlogochanger 1.2
  31. ---------------------------------

  33. Simply unzip the files (there are only three of them 'Winlogo.exe',
  34. 'Automate.exe' and this 'Readme.txt') onto a directory of your choice.
  35. Under the Misc Tab, you find options to add/Remove shortcuts for
  36. Winlogochanger on Desktop and Start Menu. Run Winlogo.exe.

  38. **IF YOU HAVE WINLOGOCHNAGER VERSION 1.1**
  39. Restore your original logos(optional)
  40. Un install the old version (Do not delete "Defaults" directory as stated
  41. in the Help file. This is the directory where Winlogochanger stores all
  42. of your logo sets)

  44. 1)Install Winlogochanger 1.2
  45. 2)Run Winlogo.exe and exit
  46. 3)Open two instances of Explorer
  47. 4)Open "Defaults" directory in one Explorer
  48. 5)Locate and open the directory where you installed the new version
  49.   of Winlogochanger. You will see two sub_directories
  50.   (Logosets and Originals). Open the "Logosets" sub_directory
  51. 6)Using drag&Drop Move/copy all the directories under "Defaults" directory 
  52.   onto "Logosets" directory.
  53. 7)Run Winlogochanger again. If you see your logo sets in the logo sets
  54.   list box, proceed to delete "Defaults" directory

  57. What is Winlogochanger 1.2

  60. This is a small tool to replace windows startup/Wait/shutdown logos(images).
  61. The replacement process can be automated by using Winlogochanger options.

  64. How to un install Winlogochanger
  65. --------------------------------

  67. Use "Restore Originals" button to restore the logos that you were using
  68. prior to running Winlogochanger.
  69. Simply delete the installation directory and all the files in it.

  71. **For Experienced Users**
  72. Delete "Winlogochanger" key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  73. (This is where Winlogochanger stores all the options, please do not modify)

  76. Quick Tips
  77. ----------

  79. *   *.sys file type is usually hidden in most people's computers 
  80.     under Win95.  Hence, you might have trouble in finding *.sys 
  81.     files. To see these hidden files, you can  use either suggestion below.
  82.  
  83.     suggestion a.   go to Explorer
  84.                        choose View menu, then select Options...
  85.                           in the dialog, enable "Show all files"
  86.  
  87.     suggestion b.   use a DOS window, in which most *.sys files 
  88.                     can be viewed normally
  89.  
  90. *  You can create your own Win95 logo files.  They must be in 
  91.    320 x 400 (256 colors) bitmap format.  Although the real size 
  92.    displayed is 640 x 400, Win95 will stretch these logo files 
  93.    when displaying them.
  94.  
  95. *  The default logo.sys is embedded in io.sys file.
  96.    If you cannot find logo.sys in your drives, including the host 
  97.    drive (in most systems C:), chances are Win95 is using the logo that is 
  98.    embedded in io.sys as your start up logo.

  100. *  Location of logo images:
  101.    1) Logo.sys (startup screen) ==> host drive (in most systems C:)
  102.    2) Logow.sys (wait screen) ==> Windows directory (in most systems C:\Windows)

  117. The interface was redesigned to take advantage of the new styles.
  118. IE buttons, Context sensitive hints,...

  120. Now the program can convert BMP, JPEG, JPG, GIF into proper Logo image.
  121. (If the image is animated gif, only the first frame will be processed).
  122. ////THE ORIGINAL IMAGE WILL NOT BE CHANGED OR MODIFIED IN ANY WAY\\\\

  124. Added the option to view the selected logo images in full size.

  126. Under automation, added the option to replace the logos based on a 
  127. predefined set of dates that you can choose from a built in calendar.
  128. (Of course, you still have the option of replacing logos based on 
  129. number of boots or days).

  131. Added a little utility under 'Misc Tab' called 'Rename File'.
  132. You can use this tool to rename any file. (Foo.bmp ==> Logo.sys).

  134. Now you have the option to delete logo sets to Recycle_Bin. Just in case 
  135. you change your mind and decided to recover that set.
